About Me
I’m Randy Whipple, and Sound Sanctuary grew from my interest in meditation, yoga, and the restorative experience of sound.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was working in information technology for a company serving primarily healthcare organizations. It was an intense period, and like many people, I found it increasingly difficult to step away from work and create space to recharge. A friend encouraged me to spend 15 to 20 minutes each day meditating—not with any particular goal in mind, but simply to slow down, become still, and give myself a meaningful break from the demands of the day.
Around that same time, my sister-in-law introduced me to Himalayan singing bowls. I purchased my first bowl and began learning how to play it. What began as simple curiosity gradually developed into a deeper interest in sound, vibration, and intentional listening.
About a year later, I completed a 10-week online course focused on sound practices, singing bowls, and the fundamentals of creating a sound bath experience. Two years later, I continued my training with a course focused on incorporating the gong into sound baths.
Sound Sanctuary grew from that journey. For me, sound provides an opportunity to slow down, step away from the noise and pace of everyday life, and spend time simply listening and being present.
